OVERVIEW: In today's world, many of our young families are stressed. Motherhood, when coupled with full or part time employment, can be extremely challenging. Perhaps, too often, lives can also be impacted by divorce and the ensuing struggles of single parenting.
Today, many young women are separated from stable family support systems that traditionally provided emotional and physical support. As intimate role models - in times past, the birth attendants, educators, encouragers, counselors, companions, and loving family members - were truly ..... the mother nurturers.
Margi Deneau-Saxton, RN, CCCE, CLC, CIMI, CLC, CPD. a practicing perinatal nurse with 40 years experience in women's health and maternal infant care, has long witnessed the need for maternal nurturance. A Childbirth Educator and teacher of breast feeding skills since 1976, she became a Certified Infant Massage Instructor in 1997 and an International Certified Trainer in 2005. As a birth attendant and doula, she is also experienced with water birth and has recently expanded her practice to Certified Postpartum Doula, Pregnancy Massage and Post Partum Massage.
COLLABORATIVE SERVICES: Through her work in the healthcare community, Margi has been able to assemble a group of mutually supportive women who share her vision.
Teresa McCullen, BS, IBCLC, RLC, LCCE, CIMI. Teresa is a long time friend and co-worker who works professionally as a Lactation Consultant, Childbirth Educator and Certified Infant Massage Instructor. She has over thirty years experience.
Leslie T Saxton, LMT, CIMI. Leslie is a Neuromuscular Massage Therapist with over eight years experience in clinical massage. She specializes in Low Back Pain Relief and Mommy Massage and is also a Certified Infant Massage Instructor. She has taught Russian Massage Techniqes and Low Back Pain Assessment at Georgia Academy of Massage and is founder of Riverside Ergogenics, Specialing in Medical Massage.
Tavish Brinton, LM, CPM, Tavish is a Licensed Senior Midwife and provides full maternity care with home birth in Aiken, Barnwell, Edgefield and Lexington Counties of South Carolina.
And for a bit of art and whimsey, there is Elizabeth Barnes, a local artist and sculptress, who does belly casting.
